Tibet feeling: Putachao Forest Park, Tibetan villages and Songzanlin Monastery

- Putachao Forest Park, extensive grasslands with yaks, drink butter tea with a Tibetan family and wander about in the Songzanlin Monastery -

You are heading to the fairytalelike Putachao Forest Park with its two lakes Shuduhu and Bitahei. It's just 40 km outside Zhongdian. Be prepared: wear comfartable shoes for a walk around the lakes, and make sure that you have enough memory left on your camera.

Then, we drive through grasslands with yaks and pass by typical Tibetan villages. We will stop in one of the villages and ask a family to take a look inside their house. Maybe, they will offer you butter tea.

In afternoon we visit the beautifull 300 years old Tibetan yellowcap Songzanlin Monastery before heading back to Zhongdian.

This tour starts preferably in Zhongdian (Shangri-La). The driver and guide will be waiting for you after breakfast and will return you after the excursion to your hotel.

1. Stroll around in Zhongdian Old town which is also referred to as Zhonxing. Take a look at the giant prayer wheel, and roam around the many shops and restaurants.
