Stone Forest, the name says it all. Would you like to know how a 270 million years old stone tree looks like? Tall rocks seem to emanate from the ground, such as stalagmites do. Many look like petrified trees thereby creating the illusion of a forest made of stone. These formations are caused by the dissolution of limestone. Seen enough? Then we return to Kunming to visit the old Yuantong Temple; the most famous Buddhist temple in Kunming. The temple was first built in the late 8th and early 9th century, the time of the Nanzhao Kingdom. At the end of the afternoon we drive to the urban Green Lake Park, that was plotted in the 17th century. Get to know how Chinese enjoy themselves: exercising, dancing, play music, and singing in various specialised groups. Originally, the lake was a water reservoir for the city. |
We will pick you up after you had breakfast in your accommodation in Kunming. Our driver and guide will be waiting for you in the lobby. It's approximately a 100 km drive from Kunming to Stone Forest in Shilin Yi Autonomous County. After your visit to the Stone Forest, we return to Kunming to see the Yuantong Temple and visit the Green Lake Park. You will be back in your hotel before dinner time. |
